I work where the map runs out.
Markets for new technology don’t appear on their own. I’ve spent the last fifteen years making them.
The work that pulls me in is usually uncharted: a new technology that has outrun the rules around it and still has to find its place in the world. Building it is rarely the hard part. The harder problem, and the one I’ve spent most of my career working on, is getting exceptional products into the hands of the people who need them. The current version of that problem is at Cycles, where we’re building clearing and settlement infrastructure for institutional onchain finance.
My career has taken me from strategy consulting and venture capital to SaaS, fintech, and blockchain. The industries changed, but the challenge rarely did. I started in strategy consulting at KPMG before moving into venture capital at O’Leary Ventures, where I worked on Shark Tank investments and early stage companies. At FreshBooks, I helped build the corporate development function, completed two acquisitions, and helped the company reach a $100M revenue run rate.
Since then I’ve focused on frontier technologies, working with companies including SuperRare and EQTY Lab and serving as a Venture Partner at AGE Fund.
Originally from Toronto, I now live in Manhattan Beach with my wife and son. The longer version reads as a series of chapters.
